Setting the Stage > The Invitation > One Method

Here's a quick summary of what one facilitator did to get the project started.

About three weeks before the application deadline I sent out a flyer and application to all administrators and teachers via interschool mail. At the same time, I targeted about twenty-five individuals I thought might be interested or whose talents I wanted to tap for this group and sent them a flyer with a personal invitation on top

Then one week before the informational meeting (five days before application deadline) I emailed a message and attached the flier and application documents so people could apply by e-mail. I had more than five times the number of responses to the email and personal invitations than I did to the original flier. (This may be because the email was a better method or because it was just closer to the date and farther into the school year.)

At the informational meeting I gave people the Expectations and Benefits handout plus the syllabus for the university credit option (IUSB).
