October 4 - Sign up Sheet due

October 6 -Notification to participants of selection

October 17th - Initial meeting - 7:00-8:00 a.m.

Establish dates and times for next meetings. Do we want to do it the way we did last year? Half days? Whole days? Get email addresses for listserv. Go over Assignments #1 and #2

Assignment #1
Attend a conference sponsored by a state or national professional educational organization (NCTE,IRA, ICE, HECC, etc). Write a reflection about something you learned and will use in your practice. Post by May 18th, 2001 to the listserv.

Assignment #2
Draw numbers. That number is the Chapter you will read from Lessons from a Child.  Post a brief summary of your chapter to the listserv. (300 words or less). Also list an observation you share with the author, or you disagree with, and a question the chapter raised in your mind to investigate. Save hard copy for your portfolio. This is due to the listserv October 27.

*Every assignment in on time adds $10 techno- dollars to your account to purchase technology at the end of the project.

Assignment #3
A. Read through the LA Standards (Since this is an LA adoption year this seems very appropriate. Also it is important for all teachers to recognize they are teachers of reading and writing. ) Find a Standard you would like to work on for this project. This could be something you already feel you do well and would like to document, or it could be there is something you think you need to improve that you'd like to work with. (If using an LA standard seems entirely impossible for you, choose one from your content area to concentrate on.) Post the Standard to the listserv by Nov. 6. Save hard copy for Portfolio.

B. Think about how technology can support your students to improve their performance. Identify the technology you wish to use. Do you need training? Post to the listserv the technology you plan to use and specify the training you think you might need by Nov. 6. Print a hard copy. Save for Portfolio.
