Identify Topics and Schedule Demonstrations
Look around the school, district, and community. Who is doing something interesting with technology? What equipment or software is available in the school/district and not being used by many teachers or students? Use the answers to these two questions to identify a few topics and presenters for short demonstrations. Make a list of group meeting times and the contact presenters. Ask for only a few minutes of their time (no more than 20 minutes in presentation or demo). Schedule one demo per group meeting. This could be done in conjunction with the principal or curriculum coordinator and then demos could also be scheduled at faculty meetings or curriculum events.

Keep these simple and focused (10-20 minutes). Don't try to cover all aspects of the technology. When possible, let participants get their hands on the technology. Think of these as awareness opportunities.

Identify Topics and Schedule Workshops
Use some of the same topics and presenters identified above for longer sessions. In fact, some of the demonstrations may perk interest in longer, more in-depth opportunities.

Also, look at the needs listed in participants' individual plans. Look for common themes. Look for workshop facilitators to match the topics. If none are available within the community, contact your local Education Service Center or call a local college or university. Check the Tech Associate Database. Call the Educators' Technology Center (800-222-4223).

Schedule workshops at a variety of times so that people with set schedules (Monday university class, Wednesday club meeting, etc.) aren't left out. Wherever possible, schedule at times best for participants - simply ask them, "What are some good times for you?"

Other Opportunities
Check websites listed in resources for topics and schedules of a few conferences and workshops. Add to this list as you talk to others.
